For fans of action movies, the last twenty years have been some of the most prolific in cinematic history. Not only have there been more action films released (or so it seems), but the amount of action has been through the roof. Movie budgets have skyrocketed, explosions & car crashes have become almost comically large, and you can just about set your watch by the release of these films at certain times of year. There’s just one thing missing ⏤ the majority of these movies aren’t actually any good. หนังออนไลน์ล่าสุด
Before the internet hate-hive starts buzzing in full-force, there’s a reason for making such a bold proclamation about the quality of these modern action movies. All you tend to see is basic, by-the-numbers, safe movie franchises doing nothing more than just spending more on a budget of what you see on the screen rather than actually putting together a real story. The acting is pretty stilted, and the actors are usually one-dimensional. All-in-all, you get nothing except a visual spectacle that gets a little tiring after you’ve seen it a couple of times.
Unfortunately, you’re about to get a “back in my day” quip regarding action movies. Specifically, let’s look at the action movies of the 1960s. Film in the 60s was taking on a very different role, and the product you got wasn’t the same as the Golden Age of Hollywood from the just a few years before. You had bold ideas, more avant-garde camera work, and the writing had an edge.
What was great about action movies from this time period was that action movies weren’t specific to one type of movie. You could get the thrills and excitement watching everything from comedy to horror and everything in-between.
If you’re an action movie fan but are maybe a little worn down by the “same-old-same-old” of today’s films, here are a few 60s action movies you might want to check out:
The Dirty Dozen ⏤ Though it has a setting in WWII, this late-60s film had a who’s who of the day’s great actors. It has the perfect combination of every element that keeps moviegoers coming back for more. It’s a classic.
It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World ⏤ Even though the movie is about a wild chase for buried money, it really is about the greatest comedic ensemble cast ever put together. The star power is unbelievable.
The Italian Job ⏤ You’ll rarely have this much fun during a movie, and Michael Caine is superb. The film also delivers the greatest ending ever put on film.
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly ⏤ While Leone had other films, this is the one that most folks know best. The scope, the length, the setting, and the cast all make-up one of the great films of all-time.
Yojimbo ⏤ This is the celebrated masterpiece from Akira Kurosawa and for most people, it’s the film that inspired everything spaghetti-westerns to gangster-noire. It’s a must-see for any fan of film in general.
Action movies, when done right, can be visually awe-inspiring and beautiful. The right amount of movement from actors in a frame or the right amount of editing can make a scene standout as masterstrokes in cinema. It might be time you, as a fan of action movies, demand more of this genre because it once was so much more.
